That's the honest range for professional monthly bookkeeping for a typical small business: transactions categorized, every bank and credit card account reconciled, and financial statements delivered monthly. Where you land inside the range comes down almost entirely to two numbers: how many accounts you have and how many transactions run through them. A solo operator with one checking account and one card is a very different job than a contractor with six accounts and five hundred transactions a month.

Essentials, $250/month: up to 2 accounts and 100 transactions. Standard, $450/month: up to 4 accounts and 250 transactions. Growing, $999+/month: starts at 6 accounts and 500 transactions, includes subcontractor W-9 and 1099 tracking and a monthly Owner's Briefing call; bigger books quoted flat, in writing. Every plan includes monthly reconciliation of every account and a P&L and balance sheet delivered by the 15th.

Why the ranges are so wide
Cost questions, answered straight
For most small businesses, outsourced monthly bookkeeping runs roughly $200 to $1,000 a month, driven by account count and transaction volume. Our flat plans are $250, $450, and $999+, published on our pricing page. An in-house hire runs roughly $4,300+ a month in DFW before benefits.
Because then they can price each client individually. That's not dishonest, but it makes comparing impossible. Our pricing runs on two measurable numbers, accounts and transactions, so there's nothing to hide behind a call.
Hourly looks cheaper until the bill is open-ended. A flat fee means the messy month costs the same as the clean one, and the efficiency problem is ours, not yours.

No, ours don't include tax prep anywhere, on purpose. We are bookkeepers, not tax preparers, and your CPA files from the clean books we hand them. Anywhere you shop, check whether "bookkeeping" quietly includes or excludes tax work; it's the most common apples-to-oranges trap in these comparisons.
